Day Off at the Museums: Teen Takeover
STEAM into the New Year
Monday, December 29, 2025
Noon–3 p.m.
Spend your day off in a world of creativity and discovery! Teens ages 13 to 18 are invited to Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History as they join forces for a full day of STEAM-powered fun alongside Museum Educators and experts.
Start the day in the Hall of Sculpture, where you’ll enjoy food, music, and STEAM-based drop-in activities designed to spark imagination. Then, journey through the museum for interactive gallery engagements and deeper dives into science and art.
Explore S.T.E.A.M
S – Science in Slime Station: make and take your own unique slime. Make it magnetic, fluorescent, or fluffy; you are the scientific creator of the slime.
T – Technology Station: use different types of microscopes to explore microfossils, microcrystals, and other microscopic specimens.
E – Engineering Station: learn all about how humans learned about flight from birds, bats, and insects. Explore how biomimicry has influenced everyday life.
A – Art Stations: explore the unique ways to make art, including printmaking, mixed-media painting, and art in nature.
M – Math Station: explore the mysteries of the Fibonacci Sequence and its frequency in nature.
Whether you’re experimenting, creating, or exploring, this is a day to connect, learn, and let your curiosity lead the way.
