the big pictureWinter 2016

This mixed-media painting, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker on Yellow, was created by Ashley Cecil, currently an artist-in-residence at Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Cecil gravitated to the museum’s work in bird conservation through Powdermill Avian Research Center and BirdSafe Pittsburgh, which works to prevent bird deaths due to collisions with glass windows.
