Areas of focus: STEM, education, science communication, engineering-design process
During his tenure at the Science Center, Jason Brown has developed and led professional learning opportunities in the areas of technology, behavior management, STEM Education best-practices, and the utilization of online and digital resources in instruction. He leads the strategic education initiatives, Teaching Excellence Academy, STEM Excellence Pathway, Fab Lab, and Chevron Center for STEM Education and Career Development teams. During his 11 years in the classroom prior to joining Carnegie Science Center, Brown taught high school science and middle school technology, as well as serving as an assistant professor in the construction management and architecture programs at the State University of New York. He also spent six years as a builder and residential construction project manager with a focus on building science, energy efficiency and sustainable building practices. Brown graduated from Hobart College with a bachelor’s degree in physics. He also holds a Master’s of Business Administration and a Master’s Certificate in educational technology and new literacies from State University of New York at Buffalo and is a Pennsylvania certified science teacher.
